When he stepped slightly closer Aubree felt her muscles tense up, half expecting him to kill her then and there. Her eyes shut for a moment but when she felt no pain re-opened, half-relieved even though she still thought the possibility was lingering and he had just not made up his mind about what to do with her yet. Surely she wasn't supposed to know that he was a vampire, as she had never really heard people talk about them actually being real. It seemed like it wouldn't be something you'd go around telling just anyone, or really something you shouldn't tell to begin with.
The words did sound sincere, very sincere and Aubree wanted to believe it. But... if he was a vampire wasn't he technically supposed to hurt her? "That's what they do in all of the movies, though. They gain their victims trust before killing them." Of course, her life was not a movie and thankfully that made the chances of that decrease. Well, she assumed so at least. She could not be sure, because quite frankly she still wanted to run and act like none of this ever happened even if she didn't know her way back. She rather be lost somewhere in the woods then with a vampire, if that's what he really was. It was possible that he was lying, but he went into a lot of detail for this to just be a lie. It would have been a ridiculous possibility, and didn't seem like a possibility.
As he took off his jacket Aubree wasn't sure what to except. Pressing her lips into a thin line she watched as he backed into the sunlight and wasn't sure why - it'd kill him surely. As she watched, instead of him burning or whatever happened in legends, he... sparkled. It was hard not to laugh and an unlady-like snort escaped, her hands flying up to cover her mouth to keep from laughing. "No offense, but that's kind of gay." That comment she couldn't honestly hold back from saying, but it just didn't seem like something a vampire would do. It seemed like a fae thing or something, but a vampire. They were supposed to be terrifying and bloody.

.ALEC JUSTIN HUGHES.
Alec studyed her, he could tell that she was still nervous, but he was fairly sure he could expect any human to be afraid of him now, after all, he had just told her that he was a bloodsucking, human killing vampire. Of course she would be scared. "That's what they do in all of the movies, though. They gain their victims trust before killing them." Alec chuckled slightly, "Well, then, I can kill you if you would like me to." He said sarcastically. "And by the way, my heart stopped about three hundred and fifty one years or go, give or take." He said in his perfect, smooth vampire voice.
He chuckled slightly as she snorted, not exactly what he would expect, as she witnessed him glittering, shaking his head slightly, his red eyes sparkling, "No offense, but that's kind of gay." Alec shrugged slightly, "I didn't choose this, Aro didn't choose it, and all of the vampires before him didn't choose it. By the way, Aro's our, or my leader." He said, slowly, "And this is why I'm not walking around in the center of town. And the Cullens, the vampires that "own" this place would reconisize me. If they don't know I'm here by now."
Alec smiled slightly, adjusting his jacket ever so slightly. "Nothing can out run me, beat me in a battle, I have a power, to num everything, human or vampire, they loose all of they're senses. That's why I'm, more or less safe." He said, not so sure anymore how much about him he should, or shouldn't give away, he was just swinging and hoping for the best.

The sarcasm did happen to surprise Aubree - her fear and her comment had been entirely serious, so she gave him a look when he said that. She had no death wish. Hell, with her luck she'd end up like one of these ghosts and be very confused trying to find someone else who was like her. If there was someone else, she had never met someone with her particular, gift, so to say. She didn't want to assume she was the only one however, the line of it had to start somewhere and that meant at least someone else had to have it. Well, she hoped at least.
They had a leader? Well that made since she mused, as everything would really be a wreck without some sort of leader taking control over it. "If you have a leader, do have rules and stuff?" She asked curiously, not sure what to expect from that question. "Wait, the Cullens? Like the family? They're vampires too?" That Aubree found odd, the family had always seemed so nice. Never seemed scary even if they were a little odd and anti-social. Then again she as the same way really, avoiding most people because she was different. She didn't like being different. Then again, most people didn't. Perhaps some people would have enjoyed it, being able to help others in a way people could only imagine. It just made her feel like a freak, but knowing others were different was almost comforting.
That was... amazing sounding. He sounded invincible like nothing could beat him. The numbing of the senses would be scary though, to be on the end where he was using it. Having no senses, she wondered what it would have felt like. She couldn't imagine it, it'd be a thoroughly terrifying experience surely. "You make it sound like such a good thing... but don't you feel guilty killing all of those humans?" She asked, unsure whether or not it was an appropriate thing to ask.

.ALEC JUSTIN HUGHES.
Alec noticed that Aubree seemed to be over her fear of him, atleast for the moment. If he turned into a "mad," bloodthirsty vampire, he was sure that her fear would return. Alec listened intently as Aubree spoke, "If you have a leader, do have rules and stuff?" Alec could tell that she was curious now, that she wanted to know more about the world he lived in, more about the world that was hidden from the human eyes. It was, more or less curiousity.
Alec nodded, "Yes, we can't be obvious to humans, kill to much, or stand out. We can't hunt in Volturi, that's my Coven's city." Alec said silently, not sure if he should add that he wasn't supposed to tell humans that he was a vampire, that it was against the law. That her life ccould be in danger if she told anyone, that his life could be in danger. "Also, you can tell no one, not your closest friends, your parents, your siblings, no one, maybe not even ghosts. I'm not sure about that one, though." Alec said, trying to help clear everything up.
"Wait, the Cullens? Like the family? They're vampires too?" Alec nodded slowly, "Carlisle Cullen is one of Aro's good friends, but his family has golden eyes because they drink animal blood. Though he's not as close to Aro as you'd guess." Alec said, his voice remaining fairly smooth, even though he did hate the Cullens, fairly much, enough to survey their land for future war.
"You make it sound like such a good thing... but don't you feel guilty killing all of those humans?" Alec shrugged slightly, "Sometimes, but I learned in my fourteen years of human life that humans can be cruel, not all of them are, but it's better off just to kill the bad ones. Not that I always pick, it's hard to just start when the thirst returns." Alec said, his eyes still whatching her intently, "Or, and my gift is used more or less in our judging, we usually kill guilty vampires, and my gift is like putting a dog to sleep, they won't feel anything when they die."

As Alec listed the laws, Aubree could not help but let her thoughts wonder as she listened. Did this mean she was supposed to be unaware of their existence? Everything he said did make it sound like that, yet he had somewhat blatantly told her after she admitted that she saw spirits of the dead. "Hmm, I suppose you kill quickly then? Because the presence around you are offly strong, that's why I fell back. However that ghost wasn't killed by someone like you, she was shot I believe. She showed me her death by having my relive it, without the dying part. Most of them do." She explained softly.
The thought of telling anyone hadn't even occurred to her, she wouldn't have done it regardless of him telling her. Aubree didn't want to be claimed crazy, she might as well walk around telling people she saw the dead if she wanted that much too happen her. "I had no intentions to," she spoke with a shrug of her shoulders. She had no reason to anyway, and it wasn't like anyone would believe her if she did.
"Hmm, if this is their land then shouldn't you not be here?" Aubree did not want to come off as rude or anything, it just didn't make sense to her. Then again, she would probably never fully understand the concept of vampires seeing as she was not one. Which was reasonable. "Though if they drink animal blood it does make sense, they don't have ghosts haunting them." She commented, more talking to herself than them. She had a tendency to do that.
Hmm. It was slightly frightening knowing that he could kill her and she would never see it coming. Aubree didnt know if he was thirsty but his eyes were a somewhat bright red, which was slightly scaring. She was unsure what to think, to be honest. "They would never see it coming, would they? That'd be odd though..." Was there an after life for them? If there wasn't, would they just be floating forever? Or was there and they'd immediately enter Hell?

However that ghost wasn't killed by someone like you, she was shot I believe. She showed me her death by having my relive it, without the dying part. Most of them do." Alec shrugged slightly, "I takes a minute or so, maybe half a minute, but I still believe it's not as painful as the change. That one is basically like roasting you, inside out." Alec said slowly, still trying not to scare her.
"I had no intentions to," Alec nodded slightly, well, that would be a good thing for him. Or atleast better. "Hmm, if this is their land then shouldn't you not be here?" Alec shrugged slightly, "I'm not sure, but they've made it clear enough that we're not supposed to hunt here." Alec said, even though he wasn't thirsty, thinking about hunting brought up the burn in his throut, especially since he was standing in front of a human, but he wasn't thirsty.
"Though if they drink animal blood it does make sense, they don't have ghosts haunting them." Alec shrugged slightly, "Just not many ghost haunting them. Some of the younger ones have slip ups. But I'm just about as old as Carlisle, so, I have more practice." Alec said, slowly, his voice remaining smooth and perfect. "They would never see it coming, would they? That'd be odd though..."
"Technically, right after they lost their sense, or just before they would know what's coming. It's just easier that way. Plus Aro prefers to do it that way." Alec said, his voice smooth. "There are lot of vampires around here, but my coven's the largest, but we're like the government of vampires. Aro, Marcus, and Caius are our leaders. Me and my sister are just a step down from them." He said, slowly and smoothly.

"Hmm," Strange. In a way Aubree had experienced quite a few painful deaths herself, though one of them were actually her own yet, so she knew pain somewhat well from ghosts as well as what she had been through in her own life time. Of course, no one knew about the baby she had been forced to give up because of her step-brother's actions. No one would ever know if she was allowed to have things this way, and so far she had as her eldest step-brother wasn't in jail yet, now was he?
Nibbling down on her bottom lip slightly, Aubree's thoughts mused over the choice of words. It was a terrifying thing, thinking of him hunting. This was mostly because she was the closest human to him, she supposed. "I guess that's a good thing for me then." She stated, her tone slightly blunt as she spoke. Well, that was one more day she would be alive and one less death she would have to worry about. Her own death was something she rarely thought about anymore, she was around so many spirits all of the time it was hard to think that one day she was going to be just like them, more than likely. Earth bound until she finally got whatever necessary done.
Hmm. Well, that was not exactly the most pleasant thing to hear as that made it possible in her mind that they could slip up again and kill someone, whether it be her or someone else. Death was a thing that Aubree in a way protested - it made her life more stressful. The thought may have been necessarily selfish, but she just wished death never existed in the first place. If it didn't her life would be normal, maybe. She would at least have a shot at it.
"Easier for you, at least. Spirits who have no idea what happened to them and don't even realize their dead are the hardest to cross-over. some never cross-over in the first place because they refuse to believe that they're dead." Aubree spoke firmly, those were the worst to deal with. Especially if they were younger ghosts, it made it more difficult than necessary and harder to cross-over children. They were so young, they didn't deserve to die at the age. "Is your... talent what put you as second best?" She asked curiously, not being able to hold it back from escaping. Curiosity killed the cat. It was a good thing she wasn't a cat.

.ALEC JUSTIN HUGHES.
Alec studyed Aubree slightly, listening to her intently, "Hmm," Alec spoke slowly, in his perfect voice, "Not everyone is really guaranteed to live, even. If the vampire can't stop the bite. We have venom, sort of like a snake, and we have to bite to change a new vampire. But some of us don't have that controll. Or aren't as confident. So sometimes, we just can't stop." Alec said evenly, his voice containing some emotion, Alec watched her steadily, waiting for her reaction, if she had one.
"I guess that's a good thing for me then." Alec chuckled slightly, a slightly deep rumbling in his chest. "Plus the werewolves, I'd have to get on a plane, back to Italy as quick as I could, if I slipped up. Which is nearly impossible." Alec still tryed not to frighten Aubree, her scent, the blood that flowed in her veins, still dully burned his throat, though. He just wasn't thirsty enough to be forced into action. He had fed recently, so there was no need.
"Easier for you, at least. Spirits who have no idea what happened to them and don't even realize their dead are the hardest to cross-over. some never cross-over in the first place because they refuse to believe that they're dead." Alec nodded slightly, he could understand it, a human feeling a pain, never seeing their death coming, would be hard as a ghost. They would probably be believing it was all some dream, or something like that.
"Is your... talent what put you as second best?" Alec nodded slowly, smiling a slight, half smile, "Yes, it is. Mostly no one can stop my power, unless they, kill me, or my sister. My sister, well, she can basically burn you where you stand. It's all mental, of course, but it is pain. We have more authority than the rest of the coven, you could call Aro, Marcus, and Caius the presidents of our world, more or less, and we're just their consultants, just one step lower than them, and all the rest of our coven, there has to be over ten, the people, or protectors, because they are my coven's army, and guard, more or less." Alec said, not sure if he should reveal all of these secrets. But it was too late now, anyway.

"Well of course, no one is guaranteed to live technically. Eventually the world will be nothing more than a space rock and everything will die in flames." Aubree said with a light shrug. The subject of death was something that she was unnaturally comfortable talking about, probably because she was always so surrounded by it that she huddled into it's embrace when she was all alone. It was something that would never leave her, whether it was a good or bad thing was left undetermined by her for the time being.
Werewolves? Her pale eyebrows shooting up, Aubree wouldn't have guessed those words to escape his mouth. She had never really been one to deny anything that wasn't thoroughly supported by science. Ghosts were more than real, apparently so were vampires, so she wasn't going to freak out over this third occurence. "Hmm, even though werewolves are supposed to hate you, aren't they supposed to try and eat my flesh?" She asked, her eyebrows now furrowed slightly in confusion. Legends didn't seem all too accurate apparently.
No one could stop him or his power other than killing him. That was not a comforting thing. Aubree sure as hell couldn't kill him - she didn't have the nerve to do such a thing. She had let people walk all over her, her own step-brother nearly kill her then be forced to give up the result. She had never had the nerve to say no to people, so how did she expect herself to suddenly have nerve to do that? I mean, she could hardly even talk to people on her own and she didn't even know how.
Listening to him speak about the eh hem, government of sorts Aubree was actually fascinated. Sure, most people probably would have been terrified but normal things like this she didn't find scary. She had always been odd like that. Biting down softly on her lip, he sounded pretty high up. He and his sister were like the equivalent to Joe Biden from what it sounded like, or something like that. "Why are you telling me all this? It's apparent that I'm not even supposed to know you're a vampire."

.ALEC JUSTIN HUGHES.
Alec knew that Aro would be the one most disappointed in him, if Aro even did find out that Alec had, in fact told their secret to the humans. After all, Alec was one of the ones that enforced those rules, one of the ones that knew the conciquesnces by heart, and had witnessed them himself. Alec didn't even know if it had been pure stupidity that had made him give it all away, or just he wanted it off of his back, he wanted to be able to share, it, to not be, unusual, one of the ones that stuck out. That shouldn't be alive.
"Well of course, no one is guaranteed to live technically. Eventually the world will be nothing more than a space rock and everything will die in flames." Alec's eyes refocused on Aubree's face, shaking himself from his dreadful thoughts for just a little while. But he knew, one way or another, his mind would drrag it back up again. Alec noticed that Aubree didn't really seem to care about death, he was sure she cared, but she talked like it like it was unavoidable. Like she respected it.
"Hmm, even though werewolves are supposed to hate you, aren't they supposed to try and eat my flesh?" Alec chuckled slightly, "I'm not sure, but the real werewolves, in Europe, are nearly extinct. the ones around here, well, I'm not even sure if ther are werewolves. But they have to bite someone, to change them. Like us." Alec said, his voice still remaining smooth.
"Why are you telling me all this? It's apparent that I'm not even supposed to know you're a vampire." Alec shrugged slightly, he wasn't even sure, or atleast really sure himself, "I don't know, it's somewhat easier. Not having to run around pretending to be normal if I'm out in public. I guess it's just a relief to not work really hard not to run full speed, break things, and all of that other stuff." Alec said in a smooth, slightly lower voice.

Hmm. It was interesting to learn all of the things about the world, things that in all honestly Aubree would have never guessed to be true. The only so called 'mythical' creatures she would have presumed to be real was spirits and ghosts, seeing as she was a channel. She saw the dead so of course they were real. Although the possibility of everything be a hallucination was perhaps still a possibility, it had gone on far too long. Even if no one else seemed to see them as well.
Biting seemed like a pretty popular method among the less scientific world, at this point. More than popular, which probably wasn't good. I mean, a normal ant bite didn't hurt or anything, more liek an annoyance as opposed to anything else. But she would have taken a guess and said that a vampire or werewolf bite was going to hurt a lot more than just a silly old insect. "Perhaps I need to stock up on my turtle necks," she mused outloud with a soft giggle.
The first half of that Aubree understanded with fully honesty. She knew what it was like to be an outcast to your surroundings, and knowing that if they ever realized the full truth that she might as well leave the town - leave the state! She didn't want people to know she saw dead people, she never had. Her family didn't know, he was the only one that did know other than the ghosts that she had crossed over. "I know the feeling, I live with it everyday. Whereas that's nothing in comparison, I know that it's nothing anyone with the slightest bit of sanity wants to do." Perhaps it was easier for him somewhat despite having so many years on her age, he at least knew other vampires. She didn't know anything like her, or even if there was anyone like her.
Whereas the second part the little redhead was unable to empathize. Aubree had broken things in the past, minor things that weren't too much of a waste. She was no weight lifter or bozer however and was not physically stronger or faster than the average person. She was hard to catch perhaps since she was small and good at climbing trees, but that was it.

.ALEC JUSTIN HUGHES. He would understand if she was confused, or even shocked. He was sure it would be extremely surprising, seeing the world through normal eyes, where he wasn't even supposed to exist, of course, in his world, or in his time, atleast, he was aware of witches and wizards at the time. Of course, there are no witches and wizards, at the time, or not even now. There were only vampires, werewolves, and whatever additional unusual, greater than human powers, of some sort. And if he still was human, which is still improbable, he would most likely be as surprised as she was. But then again, when he was born, they had a common knowledge of odd things, in a way.
"Perhaps I need to stock up on my turtle necks," Alec chuckled slightly, his ruby red eyes glittered slightly, "I'm not so sure that would work. It doesn't matter where you get bitten, to be transformed, you only have to be bitten." He said, his voice remaining fairly smooth, even though he was worried about spilling nearly all of the facts to her. He wasn't even quite sure he should tell her about the consiquences if they found out that he had told her. Spilled the beans. Because he would be dead. Or whatever, wherever, vampires, like him went.
"I know the feeling, I live with it everyday. Whereas that's nothing in comparison, I know that it's nothing anyone with the slightest bit of sanity wants to do." Alec nodded slightly, his head bobbing. "Atleast when people look at you their instincts don't scream Danger! Danger! Or when they look at you their, basically falling all over you." Alec said, shifting the way he was standing.
Alec met her eyes, more or less. "You can't tell anyone. Remember, please, and if you see anyone like me, except the Cullens maybe. I suggest running, well, not exactly. Get in public, in a huge group. The Volturi will be after them if they show thekmselves. And if you tell anyone like me, more orless. It will be the end of both of us." He said, a slight emotional tone touched down slightly into his perfect voice.
