reject our offers of joining the guard."

That's how it all began. Aro grew tired of having the Cullens reject them, and them being in second place to them. They were getting powerful, too powerful. They had werewolves on their side, and extraordinary powers that the Volturi wanted. So, when there's a problem, you eliminate it. Which is what the Volturi want to do. However, since they do have those powers, you need someone who can get past Alice Cullen's visions at least. They're recruiting those who she can't see, meaning werewolves. They're also using other vampires to get to the Cullens, and slowly destroy them.

All while this is going on, the Cullens are attempting to live, yet another life. This time in London, England. The 'kids' are now attending The International School of London. Soon, the Cullens have to deal with everything High School students have to deal with, lies, scandals, and more. All while keeping their heads screwed on straight, and not revealing who they are.
